Economic Glossaries
- Terms of Trade and Other Wonders
This is a glossary for terms used in international economics, maintained by Alan Deardorff. It is comprehensive and includes many figures, although, by his own admission, is biased towards international trade terms (although international finance terms are also covered).
- Pacific Dictionary of International Trade & Business
This dictionary, based at the University of British Columbia, contains a large database of international trade terms, most of which are extensively cross-linked. Its main limitation would be its relatively brief definitions, although these are succint and clear.
- WTO Terminology Database
The World Trade Organization's terminology database demystifies myriad terms employed by the body, in the three official languages of English, French, and Spanish. The database contains over 8600 terms and is updated on a monthly basis.
- Hypertext Financial Glossary
Campbell Harvey of Duke University provides this 8,000 word financial glossary. Extensively crosslinked, with 18,000 hyperlinks.
- Econterms
A glossary of general economic terms. Its main comparative advantage is that is draws from diverse authors for the most easy-to-understand definitions possible. As such, it is useful for both the beginner as well as the more advanced user who wishes to refresh the memory.
- Economics A-Z
This cross-linked, searchable economics dictionary by the Economist newspaper is an excellent way to stay abreast of the latest economics terms, especially those in wider financial press usage.
- Economics Glossary
This glossary presents very basic concepts in economics, as well as a range of related disciplines. However, the definitions are very detailed, albeit the choices of terms are limited to primarily microeconomic terms, especially those relating to the theory of choice.
- Finance Glossary
Touted as the most comprehensive glossary of financial terms on the Internet. Provided courtesy of Bloomberg, but maintained by Campbell Harvey from Duke University. Contains over 6,000 entries, with 15,000 links.
- Financial Dictionary
An alternative glossary of common financial terms. For a glossary focused primarily on personal finance terms, see this glossary.
